Oostende is called "the queen of cities at the sea". It is the biggest city at the Belgian coast & has a lot to offer to visitors f.eks. museums, shops, restaurants. The hostel is located only 300m away from the beach. You can visit the "Mercator" - a former trainingvessel (sailing) from the Belgian navy or wander around looking at the yachts. Guided tours by the Marine Ecological centre can be booked through the hostel.

This hostel is the finest hostel I have stayed at. It is more like a four star hotel. I am a long distance cyclist and this hostel has a dedicated secure room for bicycles which was just perfect for me. The hostel is ultra modern and has a superb self serve kitchen to prepare your own meals. The evening meal on offer is very good and at a good price. Laundromat just down the street too This hostel rates a 'ten out of ten' for me. I would recommend this hostel. The staff couldn't be more helpful.

Budget meal tip

Just ask at reception if there are any meals on offer for dinner. Full course dinner was good and reasonable in the cafeteria downstairs. Also, there is a Spar® supermarket just down the street to the right.

Where next?

Well, I rode my bike from Ostende to Bruges to stay at the Europa Hostel. From Bruges, I rode my bike to Bergen op Zoom to stay at the Stayokay Hostel for two nights. Then I rode to Den Haag, where I am now.
