Preferred Access Through Membership
Hostelling International is a Membership organisation. In many countries a membership card is compulsory if you wish to stay in hostels listed on this site. In other countries, members enjoy discounted overnight prices while non-members are required to pay a surcharge. In addition, HI Members can benefit from a wide range of Member Discounts & Savings worldwide upon presentation of their membership card. The table below lists the Membership requirements of youth hostel associations whose hostels are listed on this site.- Membership Required: 'Yes' in this column indicates that HI Membership is required in this country. A * in this column indicates that day membership is available.
- Member Discount: 'Yes' in this column indicates that HI Members will receive a discount on the overnight price (membership card must be shown)
- Non-member Surcharge: 'Yes' in this column indicates that non-members may stay in hostels in this country but they will have to pay small surcharge on the overnight price
