In the Northwest, Quebrada de Humahuaca still retains the marks of Camino del Inca, a major trade route 10,000 years ago. At the top of the Andes Mountain Range, the visitor will be able to visit numerous small villages with poetic architecture that recreates the Hispanic Colonial Era. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful landscape, see the local villages’ handicrafts and sample the native food of the Andean region.

The City of Buenos Aires is located in the central eastern part of the country, above the banks of La Plata River, the widest river in the world. When the “conquistadores” arrived at this river, they thought it was a sea.

To the West, at the foot of Los Andes Mountain Range, is the city of Mendoza, known as the “Land of Good Sun and Wine” due to its very dry climate. This city is famous for its wine, its surroundings full of vineyards and the Aconcagua Mountain, which is the second highest mountain in the world. Its unique features have made Mendoza a tourist destination of adventure activities such as rafting and high mountain sports such as mountaineering and climbing.

Going down to the South, in La Patagonia, the climate completely changes, and towards the Los Lagos region, the scenery becomes wooded. During the period of glaciations, the glaciers create spectacular scenery consisting of lakes surrounded by mountains, waterfalls, rivers and thousand-year-old forests in the middle of a biosphere of pine trees, araucarias, white oaks, larch trees and myrtle trees. It is the main location for winter sports such as skiing. Argentina has a range of different ski slopes to choose from. The main cities within Patagonia are Bariloche, San Martin de los Andes, Villa la Angostura and Caviahue.

On the Patagonian Coast, facing the Atlantic Ocean, Puerto Madryn captivates its visitors with sightings of whales that arrive to the coast between the months of July and December, when whales and their young are very near the coast. Other activities on offer include fishing, windsurfing and diving.
At the South of the country, in the last stretch of the Andes Mountain Range, visitors can view the stunning glaciers, one of which is Glaciar Perito Moreno, a Natural World Heritage Site, which can be visited from the city of El Calafate. Around the month of July, tourists can witness an impressive sight when the glacier breaks up, with the ice of its front wall collapsing into Moreno Lake.

At the very South of the country lies Ushuaia, the most southern city in the World. It offers cruises to glaciers, islands and bays, and excursions to Canal de Beagle, which links the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean.
