Really enjoyed my stay at Windermere while I was supervising a DofE expedition. It is one of my favourite hostels. it has modern facilities but retains the traditional feel

This is one of the best hostels I have stayed in (I stay in many). It has atmospehere, is great for families, any age, groups and single travellers, all staff are VERY helpful and it is located in a gorgeous setting.
Hostel Overview
Enjoy panoramic views of the mountains and spectacular sunsets over Lake Windermere. If you’re feeling energetic don’t miss the walk over Wansfell for stunning views of the lake, or simply relax on the hostel terrace and take in the breath taking scenery. The Windermere hostel is an ideal base for walkers and families, children love the large wooded grounds with their trails and abundant wildlife. Enjoy a quiet countryside location two miles from Windermere.Excellent meals are served in our restaurant and bar with views of the lake and picnic lunches are also available. YHA Windermere have 2-6+ bed rooms and facilities include mountain bike hire, TV lounge, laundry, kitchen and internet access/Wi-Fi.
