Another great HI hostel. Pub crawls and tours were of a great standard to, in particular Eriks Capilano outing!

A girlfriend & myself stayed our 1st night in Vancouver at HI Central and really enjoyed ourselves! Staff was extremely helpful in directing us which way to go to find the places we were looking for. I felt safe, which was a major concern considering it was a first hostel experience for us. We shared a private room and it was very clean. The free breakfast was cool too. I would stay here again.

Not impressed with this hostel. Period. The biggest selling points of this hostel are the location, private bathrooms, and complimentary breakfast. I've been to several hostels and have had a generally good experience at all of them in regards to safety and such. Watch your gear here. My rain jacket was stolen from my room! Other guests were impolite, and trashed the private bathrooms, which really kinda ruined it for me. The rooms aren't cleaned all that well, and the disgusting blanket on my bed was, well, disgusting. Also, I don't mind a coed dorm, but when I request a male only dorm, I expect that. My first night was male only, and the second night, a couple was in my room, which made me a bit uncomfortable, because I felt as if I was a third wheel of sorts and I was out of place in a room that I paid for. I felt uncomfortable asking the hostel staff to switch rooms, so I suppose that's a shame on me.

The staff was very patient and extremely helpful. I was not impressed with the facilities, however. I know that this is a hostel, and I wasn't expecting anything fancy. I stayed in a private room, which for the money I expected to be nicer. There was no chair for the desk. While clean, the room was in need of sprucing up (a coat of paint, new carpet, etc.)

    Hostel response:
Thank you for your comments. We are working on sprucing up our private rooms! Regards, Keith

Best hostel I've ever stayed at...$1.98 membership was a great deal and cut money off of our stay.
