Hostel Overview
Valga hostel is one of the HI network of hostels in Estonia. The hostel is located in Kalda Farm, which is situated in Ligaste, South Estonia. The farm can be found near the Vaike Emajogi River, which offers canoe trips, swimming and fishing; great for those hostel guests looking for outdoor activities. Due to its location, farm life at the hostel is very peaceful making it a perfect stay for guests that want to chill and relax. Surrounded by dense forest the hostel is also great for keen bird watchers, with lots of rare species found.To the east is the winter sports area Otepaa, to the south the Karula National Park, a landscape of wooded hills with numerous small lakes. Main outdoor activities: in summer walking, jogging, biking, swimming, canoeing, in winter cross-country and alpine ski, tobogganing and ice-skating. The diverse flora and fauna alone are worth a visit all year round. Excursions to the university town of Tartu and to the seaside resort and spa of Parnu make for an interesting break. Besides the town Valga/Valka and the university city of Tartu, there are a variety of sights in the area, for those interested in history, culture and nature. If you are interested in a certain field of studies we will be delighted to help making your stay as stimulating as possible. We can recommend books on history, nature and fiction. There is a small library of Estonian fiction available in German and English translation. Estonia takes pride in being the world champion in offering internet access points. We share this pride by offering wireless internet access all over the farm.
