This was an exceptional little hostel. Cheap but very well run. Since it's very close to a station on the line out to Narita airport it's a good last night destination after a visit to Japan. Ed Reid Whakatane, New Zealand.
I have stayed in youth hostels all over Europe, Japan, & the U.S, & Sumidigawa YH is my FAVORITE youth hostel of all! The location is perfect, being near both the subway & the JR RailLines; I could be at Tokyo Station in just 15 min.! The neighborhood has a wide diversity of places to shop & eat. Everyone on the staff was incredibly helpful & welcoming. I came & left this hostel 3 dif. times during my mo. in Japan, & they even offered to hold onto some of my stuff during the shorter times that I would be gone. Both the rooms & the common area were immaculately clean. The common eating room is decorated in a way that is welcoming, & each room can regulate its own heat or AC. I loved that there were rooms where I could sleep on futons on tatami mats. The only thing that could be improved on is the clothes dryer, which, even after an hour's worth of drying, didn't dry the clothes at all. But that was a very small minus with so many pluses!!!
the location of the hostel is easy to find and the staff is very friendly eventhough they just speak a little bit of english. All things is clean and tidy. And if the wifi service can be used at the upper floor is better.
There is a convenient conection on the metro-train to Narita. In less than 2 hrs without the rush and crowd. For only 1200 yen.
Staff very friendly & helpful, but location a bit far from Subway or JR station.
The staff here is amazing. If you prefer English but do not know a little Japanese you should prepare yourself for a little bit of a language barrier. If you know some Japanese you'll be fine. Location could not be any more perfect! You are very near a subway station and the JR Railways, Akihabara is one station away (about 105 yen) Asakusa and Ginza are also extremely close and easy to navigate too. There are Japanese style rooms with warm futons and also, WI-FI!!! Wi-Fi is hard to find so live it up. You wont find better prices for a stay in a convenient location in Tokyo! (Americans: Burger King nearby)
Very nice environment and friendly staff.
This location is too easy to find and go. Everything would be fine for me.
only one problem is I don't know only cash should be accepted only. The staff didn't remind me during sending email. Anyway this is small problem.
I had an excellent time here. The hostel is clean, quiet, very pleasant, and in a convenient location to get to just about anywhere in Tokyo. The staff is warm, friendly, helpful. This hostel attracts a diverse crowd, including many older Japanese lodgers, which is especially nice if you're the type who prefer enjoying a chat over tea rather than raucous partying. Highly recommended!
Very Good!
