It's awesome that a 13th century castle is turned into a hostel! It's a really nice and stylish from the inside too. Staying in the orangery in front of the castle offers a possibility for even more peaceful night.

It is a gorgeous place to stay and we enjoyed it a lot. It was a shame we couldn't stay longer. However it was hard to find from the bus stop as directed on this website but we did eventually find it :)

I loved the beautiful castle and the gardens around the castle. Great for family and solo travellers. The staff were really friendly and helpful and was convenient to get there either by bus or by ferry both a thrilling and exciting experience. The food taste great and convenient to have the buffet breakfast each morning with unlimited juice and coffee. Thank You, Stayokey-Heemskerk for such a pleasant stay!!!!

In Stayokay Heemskerk you feel like you are in a fairy tale. Castle Assumburg, an impressive 13th century castle, houses this hostel. The castle, moat and five turret rooms are ancient but the hostel offers modern comfort and fitting royal decor. Ever raised a glass in a turret bar? Here is your chance! You will surely meet travellers from far and wide. The unique and central location in North Holland makes Stayokay Heemskerk a popular choice for all nationalities. Most rooms are located upstairs in the castle. Heemskerk and its surroundings offer plenty to do. 3 Kilometer from the hostel starts the North Holland Dune reserve, a great national park were it is perfect to walk or bike. Or go by car to the little seaside towns Wijk aan Zee, Bakkum, Castricum or Egmond aan Zee. Heemskerk is also close to the cities Alkmaar, Amsterdam and Haarlem. The Uitgeestermeer lake is less than 3 km away for canoeing, surfing and sailing and don't forget the windmills at the Zaanse Schans, Keukenhof flower gardens, the IJmuiden fishing harbour or the Beverwijkse Bazaar! There is capacity for 180 guests and facilities include bar, restaurant and bike hire.Free Wi-Fi!

| Bus: | Take the train to Beverwijk station. Then take bus 74. Get off at the Jan van Kuikweg stop, which is 200 meter from the hostel. Heemskerk station is a 20-minute walk from the hostel. There is no bus service from Heemskerk station. From Amsterdam Central Station you can also take the Fast Flying Ferry to Velsen Zuid. From here bus 74 will bring you directly to the hostel, get off at Jan van Kuikweg. |
