This hostel is the perfect location (don't let "red light district" fool you because it's in a very quiet area right on the canal. Great value for the money and very friendly staff.

The location is really good.. 1 minute walk to Rembrandt's Plein, where you can party and stumble home quickly. Not in an unsafe area. The showers/toilets are pretty disgusting. They close them for cleaning in the afternoons but I am not sure if the cleaning lady does anything there. Fairly large lockers are provided, just bring/buy a lock for it. Free Wifi and there is someone 24/7 at the front desk. Was pleased except for the bathroom cleanliness.

The building is somehow old, but the location is near all of the attractive sites in Amsterdam.

The bathrooms were not very clean, I stayed there twice while I was in the Netherlands because of its location but I was not very impressed with the cleanliness of the place.

The location of the hostel is excellent. It is within walking distance of the major attractions in Amsterdam. However the stay was depressing to say the least. There were 10 bunk beds in the room with ONLY ONE electric outlet. The equation is rather absurd, considering most travelers have at least 2 electronic devices. There was neither a DRIER nor NAPKINS in the bathroom. Which meant waiting for hands to dry naturally after washing them each time. The toilets were unclean. And some of them were even clogged. The water in the shower was only mildly warm. With outside temperature in single digits, I would expect the shower to be a hot water shower. Overall a disappointing experience.

The stay was.....ok. Main discomfort was other guests being incredibly loud all night long every night (loud conversations 2 feet away from people trying to sleep). The location was excellent, the staff was great. Breakfast was pretty good for being included.

Stayokay Amsterdam Stadsdoelen is situated on one of the city's oldest canals and near the famous red light district of Amsterdam. The hostel is within easy distance of many attractions such as the Rijksmuseum and Anne Frank's house. You’re bang in the middle of vibrant Amsterdam and beside’s bars, restaurants and shops, you will also find theatres, cinemas and museums nearby. The flea market at Waterlooplein is within walking distance. And if you would like to see the city from the canal, simply hop on the water bus at one of the stops nearby.Facilities include: internet access, free WiFi, bike hire, laundrette, television room, tourist info, lockers, safes and discounts for various museums. We offer luggage lockers next to the rooms, to lock them you can bring your own padlock or buy one at the reception. There is no curfew at the Amsterdam Stadsdoelen hostel so you can enjoy the Leidseplein (famous for its nightlife) and the city that never sleeps.
Please note: Bookings including Saturday nights can only be made for more than one night.
