Very beautiful building. One comment--the front door was locked early with no staff present. One traveller with a reservation(and with limited English) had great trouble trying to reach staff to gain entrance.

Very good! We were very lucky because the flat in the rear was free and the manager gave us. A complete apartment at our disposal with private bathroom! Thank you!

Avery big hostel for Icelandic standards (a whole 4-floor building), in the downtown of the village. Common spaces are comfortable and nice, and also the rooms are OK.

Staff didnt explain where kitchen was or the toilets. Felt likethey were not enjoying their jobs!

Hi Debbie The door next to your room has a big WC sign on it, so not much to explain there :) But I am sorry that we did not explain the way to the kitchen, but I truly hope you found your way around the hostel.

Big room, central location. There was a group of people arriving late at night and they were maiking a terrible noise. The hostel staff did not ask for silence. A pitty for other guests!

The washing and drying machines are free, but they are our of order. We learnt this only after washing for 2 hours and drying for 5 hours (didn't sleep well the whole night, as you can imagine). Otherwise, the facilities are among the best in YH (they even equip each washroom with a hair dryer!).

Hostel response:
We do not have any washing facilities for guests. If guests are in big need to wash, we have offered them to use our privat washing facilities, free of charge :) Our machines are working fine, you must have selected a program that takes ages...

The hostel is located pretty much in the center and it is quite. A lot of people from Iceland itself stayed in the hostel and we had some very interesting talks.

There was very much noise in the night and no staff member was there to take any action to it. Also the hostel was dirty, the toilets were not clean and the kitchen neither.

Hello Anke we are so sorry to hear that there was some noise at the hostel. there were 4 other rooms rented out on your floor, one with tourists and 3 of them where workers going to work 8am in the morning. and the workers have stayed with us many times before. We have a reputation for having a clean hostel. the cleaning crew leaves around 18.00 so we rely and trust our guests to clean after them selvs. there must have been an "accident" in the toilet, beacause we really make an effort to keep everything very clean. we are very sorry to hear about your comment so late...
