The staffs were polite and willing to accommodate my needs; however, the environment is NOT CLEAN! I was infected with Athlete's foot (Tinea pedis) right in this hostel!!! There were many roommates hanging their wet clothing inside the crowded room even during sunny days, and I wasn’t enjoy looking at their under wears. The bathroom was awful that it was hardly to be clean. The pantry, laundry room, and other facilities are not primarily provided for quests but the hostel’s family & staffs.

Good: -The staff are friendly and readily helpful. -The small courtyard with many plants is good to sit in and chat or use the computer. -They clean the courtyard and common spaces often (I was up at 5, and everything clean by 6). -very cute puppies Bad: -The hostel is very far away from most things. It's at the back of an alley, and I was a little afraid coming back at night. -I booked a 4 person room. I got there and there were 6 beds. -I talked to the staff who said "Yes, but only 4 people are allowed there." But then 2 days later, more girls came and there were 6 people. They gave me some money back, but it was annoying. -The air conditioner didn't work for 5 days (I stayed for 7).
Hostel Overview
Hidden Garden is the International Youth Hostel which is located closest to EXPO venue. Maybe your best choice to stay here if you plan to see the EXPO! It takes less than 3 minutes to walk to the bus stop and various buses there could take you directly to the EXPO venue within 20 minutes at the cost of RMB 2 only; or you can take Metro Line at Pudong Avenue station to reach EXPO venue. It takes only around 10 minutes and costs only RMB 2 from our hostel to Oriental TV Tower, Jinmao Building or River-side Avenue. Even by taxi, it just costs RMB 12. Shanghai Hidden Garden Youth Hostel is in the Lujiazui district. It’s a quiet and relaxing place to stay but close to the downtown area. It’s an independent two-storey building equipped with large yard, big socialization area, bar, net café, entertainment room, self-catering kitchen, self-help laundry and so on. We offer different kinds of rooms from double size room, king size room to multi-person room for you to choose. Each room has its own lavatory, air-conditioner, and 24-hour hot water.In the evenings while all the neon lights are on, it would be a really relaxing experience to sit along the river, face the Bund and have a cup of coffee. What’s more, you could also easily reach People’s Square, Nanjing Road and Shanghai Railway Station within half an hour drive. Our hostel has a big yard and a warm conservatory, book bar, wine bar, net café, entertainment room, self-catering kitchen, self-help laundry and so on. Everything you can think of is offered here. We offer a range of room types for you to choose from including twin room, double room and dormitory. Each room is equipped with separate bath room, air-conditioner and 24-hour hot water. Service is available 24 hours 7 days throughout the year. We also provide free storage and lockers. Internet could be accessed either through cable or wireless connection. Varieties of Chinese or foreign language books, magazines and DVDs can be rented free of charge with our compliment. We’re willing to solve your any doubt concerning travel in and around Shanghai. All in all, we’re here to provide you a clean, comfortable, warm and traditional stay in Shanghai.

| Rail: | Shanghai Railway Station: 1) Take Metro Line 4 to Pudong Avenue-- Take exit No 4 and walk along Pudong Avenue for around 10 minutes (you’d pass by Novotel Atlantis Shanghai, which is a very high building with a flying saucer shape top, after that, you’d see ‘豪享来’ restaurant), keep walking straight forward until you see a ‘KEDI’ convenience store and then turn right at the alley that is located 5 meter in front of the convenience store. You’ll find our hostel hidden at the end of the alley.
