Their breakfast is a joke. Big time. Make your own. And don't expect to sleep in as there is noise all day long literally outside the window drums etc. On the other hand, its so beautiful!

Great location, safe area with police security (they have point just next door). Great staff especially Igor - they speak fluently english and know Salvador very well. Good breakfast.

This is a very nice hostel! Good price and a good service. There is just one problem, this area is very dangeours during the night, so if you plan to go out you have to take a taxi and spend a lot of money every day. I think it's a good idea to stay in this hostel for 1 or 2 days to enjoy this historical part of the city during weekdays, after that move to a hostel in other area called Barra (safe and close to the beach, bars, clubs).

They hostel is great. The neighborhood is downright dangerous for anyone who isn't black, and moderately dangerous even for those who are. In less than 24 hours I was robbed once, and then almost robbed again in broad daylight, so I canceled the rest of my stay at the hostel and left.

Hostel Laranjeiras lies right in the middle of a cultural and musical mix: Pelourinho, a UNESCO World Heritage Site! It is one of Salvador's most lively spots. Besides its particular architecture, it is full of cafes, bars, theaters, dance halls and art galleries. Pelô is a festival of Bahian spirit, especially when the Olodum band performs. Guests staying at the Hostel Laranjeira will reach all this on foot, and be able to enjoy Pelô at anytime, day and night.
This Brazilian hostel is also a perfect base for beachgoers, who can take a bus directly at the doorsteps (at Praça da Sé, where also a bus to the airport is available) and get to every beach in Salvador.
