Hostel Overview
At the sea-side, just half way between Kalmar and Karlskrona, is Bergkvara located which once had the east-coast's most important port. Much of the settlement in Bergkvara is unchanged and contemporary charm remains. Bergkvara characterized today by sea and shipping.Although the hostel offers a genuine service company. At the beginning of the century built the hostel as a private residence to a shipowners widow and currently holds all rooms vessel name. In the lush garden you can enjoy the silence or even walk a few hundred meters to the beach and take a dip.
The ancient Garpen Lighthouse is located two nautical miles offshore and can be visited by boat. Bergkvara Maritime Museum displays a complete boatbuilder shop and a short distance away is still a fully intact ship tank. Anyone who is keen golf can take to Möre golf course a few miles away and for those who like history is a trip to Brömsebro a must, where a stone is erected in memory of peace at Brömsebro in 1645.
