Great location on the side of Loch Lomond and next to the Great Highland Way trail and Ben Lomond.Lots of room for cooking and socializing.

The remote location on the loch was wonderful if you have your own car. But the cooked breakfast was dreadful. No choice of what was offered (much I didn't want) and everything was fatty and geasy. Time to life the catering game as it is much worse than other hostels visited in the UK.

A former hunting lodge, we were mistaken for assuming that it would be relatively peaceful. The site is apparently well serviced by ferry service, therefore you don't need a car to get there and there are numerous campsites along the way there, so expect to meet many hikers and campers. The kitchen is one of the least used, perhaps the remote location just resulted in most people opting to cater, rather than cook. So, if you are keen to prepare your own meals, be sure to bring enough supplies!
Hostel Overview
Former hunting lodge set in a stunning location right on the banks of Loch Lomond, the hostel is 32km north of Glasgow. The area offers watersports, biking and hiking, particularly along the West Highland Way which is routed almost past the front door. There is capacity for 75 guests and facilities include laundry and self catering kitchen. Private and family rooms available.Hostel bed capacity

| Bus: | The nearest bus stop is 7 miles from the hostel in Balmaha. From here it is possible to catch a ferry service to the hostel via Luss which departs Balmaha at 3:15pm. There are also links on the west bank of Loch Lomond from both Luss and Tarbet which arrive at the hostel. The ferry from Luss departs at 4:15pm and the ferry from Tarbet departs at 4:00pm. |
