The airport cab driver called the hostel two or three times to get directions. After three suddent turn-arounds in Chalong, I finally made it to the hostel. As fate would have it, my reservation wasn't at the hostel at the time of my arrival. I showed the confirmation letter which was stored on my computer, to the woman behind the desk. She spoke English well, but communication was strained by the language barrier.

Hostel is on a very busy main road a long way from beaches & airport. Necessary to hire a motor cycle or car.Only stayed the 2 nights booked then moved to a guest house at Karon Beach.

very unhelpful reception/manager no one speaks english and no one to direct or inform she spends her days googling enternet for own personal interest and not interested in being helpful, ignoring guests. staying one month without support. very disappointing and frusting

A lovely, warm hostel which was very clean, however the location restricted possible independence unless you had your own transport (scooter/motorcycle).
Hostel Overview
At HI Phuket hostel there is no need to pay a lot more to stay on the beach, our dormitory starts from 180bt including breakfast, we're only a couple of km from the sea (Chalong bay) motorcycle taxi cost 30bt to the beach.This 5-storey building is a place for tourists to get together and exchange their travelling experiences. HI Phuket hostel is clean, quiet and provides a friendly atmosphere. It is well located on the main street, where local buses stop right in front of the hostel. We offer package tours for island hopping, elephant ride, snorkelling, diving etc. We also offer hire motorcycle and car rental. Our staff have local knowledge and can advise you what to see and do.

| Location: | 7km. from down town Phuket, on the main road of Chafah rd. 1km. further from Cahong temple, and on the same side. |
| Rail: | No train to Phuket island. |
| Airport: | Please ask people or driver for WAT CHALONG ( Wat Chalong or Chalong temple is well known temple in Phuket), our hostel is 1km. further and on the same side. Note: Do not believe when the driver try to tell you that YHA is already out of business or too far, they wanted to take you to some place else to get commission. |
