The africa-american seemed staff serves me with racial discrimination. It was very unpleasant. Regardless of his intention, I felt that.
However, the other staffs were very kind and impressing
Pros - quite cheap for Paris, on metro line 5 so easy to get to.
Cons - ugly and rundown looking, some staff OK others obnoxious and no English. Bunks are old school spring style so VERY noisy everytime someone moves. Caters to school groups so very loud.
Most disappointing HI hostel I've ever stayed in. I'm suprised they qualify for to HI standards. I'm glad I only stayed one night and left early.
The hostel is named incorrectly on this website, the name Cité des Sciences doesn't appear anywhere in the hostel so that's a little confusing. Staff were mostly lovely, except for the grump working the night shift. WiFi only works in the common room and breakfast is very basic. Showers aren't great either and the location isn't great although the metro is nearby. Overall pretty functional, I would advise people to look for somewhere more central.
I found it strange in a supposed Youth Hostel to share the hostel with school groups, and with older gentlemen.
This hostel had no 'vibe' to it, just a place to stay.
Directions to the hostel from the metro are not very clear. We had to ask for directions but ended up getting lost anyways.
water in showers and sinks needs to be hotter.
Still one of the best budget options in Paris on only 12 min by metro from the Gare du Nord.
Lack of sockets and lockable storage in the room, it is uncomfortable. The locker in the corridor must be paid for 2 Euro by every use, incredible! The bath is also uncomfortable.
By and large it was ok with that price for a few days
Didn't like having to pay 2 euros for a relatively small locker that I had to re-pay every time I accessed.
With a few parking spaces and near to the metro, this hostel worked very well for our needs.
