Hostel Overview
If you want recreation, history, culture and a good place, that is "PAIPA".It is located 3 hours from the city of Bogotá on the north motorway. On the way you will be able to find places that will take you to the past and you will feel closer to dream landscapes.
When you get to Paipa, you will be received by a city with a colonial style and with a modern style on its corners. You will find people who will encourage you to visit it all.
You will be able to see the first museum with recycled material that, today, has three levels, where the visitor will be able to see more than 500 works made with the remains of carts, bycicles, electrical appliances, which allows us to think about nature and our commitment towards it. In the central area, there is the handicrafts street, where you will see a wide selection of works made by local craftsmen. 15 min walking along the road that leads to historic place of Vargas reservoir, there is the place where the battle for the Independence of Colombia took place between Colombian and Spanish troops. You will also see the Lake Sochagota and Cabañas El Portón Hostel that offers a great variety of prices, styles and plans for groups, families and people who want to rest or who are on a business or study trip.
A littel further and along the same road, you will find the Thermal Water Park that has the best thermal and mineral waters in the world. Today it has a hydrotherapy and mudtherapy centre, saunas, massages and other services which make it one of the best places.
Cabañas EL Portón Hostel is an architectural colonial gem in perfect condition. It offers accommodation and allow the visitor to feel like being in the colonial era. It has 30 comfortable rooms, two spacious suites and a cabin, with all the services for a good rest, away from the stress of the big city.
