Have stayed here since 1977 many improvements over the years. Direct from Heathrow 39 min on Piccadilly line and 5 min walk from earls court station
Great hostel convenient to Tube and Easybus to Gatwick and Luton.
after a 24hr flight I arrived at Earl's court YHA... treated VERY poorly by staff at reception. Location is good coming from Heathrow airport
The shower facilities are far to old. In some showers there is nothing for one to place ones clothes on. The wash basins dissallow a person to even wash their face because one is obstructed by glass shelving....The taps have separate handles so when shaving there is no alternative to use cold water and that is ridiculous in cold periods rather than having to fill a communal basin that others do not clean.
The beds were quite hard and creaky, and there was very little storage space in the room I was in - some railings for towels, for example, would have made things easier. The receptionist was efficient but vaguely unfriendly. There also isn't a lift so schlepping heavy bags up multiple flights of stairs was something of a problem, but this is only to be expected in an old building. The lounge areas were very spacious and comfortable, and there were plenty of toilets and showers. There was a 24 hour reception and cafe, and it's a really short distance to the tube and food places, which was great.
We had a wonderful stay except that our room B8 was beside the shower room which was terribly noisy even at late nights. Suggest you do not sell this room at all and use it for something else. Also, free wi-fi would be great!
will still recommend to friends
I think the shower areas need renovation. It is absolutely ridiculous when I am shaving i cannot wet my face adequately......it is crazy having separate cold and hot water taps when trying to clean myself.
The staff were so helpful and the hostel is in a great area and only five minutes walk from the tube station.
A woman was brought into my male dorm room for two consecutive nights. I didn't feel secure when unauthorized persons could get into my room so easily. The bathrooms were not well maintained. More outlets are needed for computers on the ground floor.
My favourite hostel. I go to other YHAs in London but keep returning here. Kitchen has been cleaned up since I was there last - looks good guys!
