Awesome hostel! Great, big kitchen. Friendly staff. A little hard to find (off the beaten path) but in a beautiful location

Room was small for 6 people. Very friendly staff and great location. No cosy corner nor sports accomodations.

Fantastic location. Beautiful views. Clean hostel and friendly relaxed atmosphere. You have to fix your own transport here, by hitching or lift-sharing if you don't have a car, as public transport is at a bare minimum. Don't be put off. If you want somewhere beautiful this is the place. There are some good local walks and helpful maps. There is rafting and other sports in the river on Tuesdays and Thursdays when they open the barrier further up the valley to let the water down. After the sun has warmed things up there are places you can bathe in the river although the currents can be strong in places. I really enjoyed my stay.

Whether you like sports, nature or relaxing, you'll be happy to stay at the La Palud sur Verdon Youth Hostel, in the heart of the Verdon Natural Park, with the geological reserve of Haute Provence and the famous "Gorges du Verdon"... Sport activities include hiking, climbing, canoe, canyoning, water hiking, horse riding, etc. For sailing, windsurf or swimming lovers, the Ste Croix Lake is 20 km away...If you have a reservation you can come any time. Please call us in case of late arrival and we’ll tell you your room number.
We have a self-catering kitchen adjacent to the common room. Kitchen and bedrooms are accessible all day. Check-out before 10.00 hrs Breakfast is served from 7.00 until 10.00 hrs.

We don’t accept credit cards but travellers cheques and other means of payment are welcome.
There are countless hiking trails, e g from the Sentier Blanc-Martel via the Rancoumas lookout or Imbut to the Mourre de Channier and the long-distance hiking trail GR4 from Royan (Charente-Maritime) to Grasse (Alpes-Maritimes), connecting Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean and passing right through our garden.

Climb the limestone rocks with vultures soaring above, explore the canyons of Verdon, go abseiling, jump into mountain lakes or discover Verdon by paragliding or racing down the slopes on your mountain bike.

Sainte Croix Lake, 20 km from the hostel, is ideal for swimming, pedalo or canoeing. The sailing school even has a catamaran. Downstream you can take a canoe trip through the Basses-Gorges. Upstream, in Castellane, 20 km from the hostel, you can brave the Verdon on a raft, canoe, kayak or hydro-speed and floating will help you discover the river’s hidden side. In Castellane there is also a children’s pool. Only 2 km from the hostel there is a riding school offering Western riding lessons and daytrips on horseback. La Palud Sur Verdon Castle is home to the “Maison des Gorges du Verdon”, an environment museum offering changing exhibitions and conferences.
For swimming babies, we find a swimming pool in Castellane. 20 km.
Cowboys, the riding school at 2 km proposes you training courses of western equitation and one-day hikings.
In the castle of La Palud Sur Verdon is set La Maison des Gorges du Verdon. Its temporary exhibitions and its museum of the environment are wells of informations. The conferences which it organizes are rich in teachings, in sharing and in exchanges.
Vultures in Verdon Griffon vultures, Black vultures, Egyptian vultures, you can watch them by yourself or with an organized visit.
