Very nice, safe place. Owner speaks English and gives very good suggestions. Breakfast is homemade. If you go to Costa Rica - that hostel is the best place to start, you'll save a LOT of money and time just by talking to owner.

The hostel manager, Hernan, was very very helpful. He made sure we had everything we needed, knew where everything was, and how to access everythin. This is a great hostel to visit.

Hernan the owner is really great. The hostel is about a 45 min. walk from town, out in the country side. Transportation is easy. If the air is clear you can view Volcan Arenal. Hernan can set you up with any activities or transportation you want, or you can just enjoy the peace and quiet.

This was more like a boutique hotel than a hostel. Hernan Blanco, the owner, and his staff are very friendly and very helpful. The only drawback was the very clean, well lit kitchen. I could not find any pot (there are skillets), and kitchen tools are scarce. It was an Olympic effort to prepare pasta with cheese and vegetables. Don't let this put you off. It´s a great place to enjoy the country side. The staff can help you arrange any activities.

Nice comfortable hostel. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast of fruit, eggs, ham, and toast was wonderful. No hot water was a shocker, but that is the norm in Costa Rica. Those advertising "hot water" had barely luke warm water. The biggest drawback to this hostel was the distance to city and attractions. We had a car, so it wasn't an issue for us, but for those without a car, travelers would have to take tours or use taxis which is costly.

Built in 1981, this substantial farm house has been restored to offer our guests not just budget accommodation but also a unique experience during their stay in La Fortuna.The hostel has it's own garden and provides amenities, security and comfort for the independent traveller or anyone wishing to stay in peaceful, calm surroundings after a exhausting day sightseeing in the most exciting and beautiful town in the world.
Jardines Arenal Hostel has a wide selection of dorms; from private rooms with 2 - 6 beds to 6-beds dorm for the price conscious traveller. Great care has been taken in furnishing our rooms to the highest standard with top quality beds and secure storage facilities.
Guests can enjoy FREE Internet access in the lobby, relax in the lounge or have a drink with friends in our hammocks exclusive area. A free full breakfast, served in the dining room, is included in the price.

Our hostel is also situated in a great location and minutes away from the most important activities like National Park, Hot Springs, waterfalls, canopies, rafting, canyoning, waterfall rappel, shops, bungee jumpin etc. Just ask our staff for ideas! Free transportation to all the activities above mentioned is provided everyday.
Check in from 2pm or leave your bags before Check out is 12:00 m.d. Breakfast 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
