The best hostel I have so far stayed at in China. Very good facilities, including a guest kitchen and an open courtyard where people sit and meet. A very international crowd on my visit: all continents except Africa were represented.

Fair in average, to be improved. +: Service at bar/café. Quiet. -: 1) we reserved a double bed room and got a twin bed room (not nice for a couple). 2) Room infested with mosquitos at night, sleeping was like hell. 3) Computers with internet never available. 4) Few information on tours and city buses routes; available info sometimes erroneous.

We are sorry to hear that and we do understand the uncomfortable night you experienced. Obviously you didn't know there were free electrically heated mosquito repeller available for borrowing. Due to the vast garden, mosquitos do exist in summer. We are surprised you didn't find computer for Internet access, two laptops are free for use at the reception hall below the fish tank. They are there since day one. Kunming city's metro (underground train) and light rails are under construction at the moment, public transport are diverted from time to time, we regret very much for any inconvenience caused but we are in the same boat. -

Fresh flowers are dotted around the common areas - nice touch. Being able to sit in the peaceful garden area makes a nice change in China.

LeYi Youth Centre, which is based at Kunming Camellia Youth Hostel, is co-founded by the hostel and Yunnan Grassroot NGOs-support Centre on March 11th, 2011. The centre is established as a platform for diversified communications and activities. By offering chances of volunteering, sharing information about NGOs, and resource of social learning for the public, it aims to encourage young people's participation in a variety of social services, in order to become a responsible local community, and benefit the young through such activities and development. Through cooperation with Youth Hostel, the centre also provides an opportunity for its participants to have a better understanding of the mission and philosophy of hostelling.

| Bus: | West Long Distance Bus Station: Take bus 82, change bus 5 at "Yi Shu Ju Yuan 艺术剧院", get off at "Sheng Ti Yu Guan 省体育馆"(3 stops). The hostel is on the other side of the road. Taxi costs RMB40. East Long Distance Bus Station: Take bus 193 to "Yunnan You Dian Bin Guan 云南邮电宾馆" , change bus 89 to "Sheng Ti Yu Guan 省体育馆"(only 1 stop), then walk backwards for 2-3 minutes.The hostel is on your left. Instead of changing bus, you can follow "Dong Feng Dong Road 东风东路", walk westward for 7-10 minutes. The hostel is on your right. Taxi costs around RMB20. North West Long Distance Bus Station: Take bus 1, change bus 89 at “De Sheng Qiao 得胜桥", get off at “Sheng Ti Yu Guan 省体育馆"(3 stops). The hostel is on the other side of the road. Taxi costs RMB60. South Long Distance Bus Station: Take bus 103, change bus 5 at "Dong Jia Wan 董家湾", get off at "Sheng Ti Yu Guan 省体育馆"(only 1 stop), then walk backwards for 2-3 minutes. The hostel is on your left. Taxi costs around RMB40. North Long Distance Bus Station: Take bus 182 to last stop "Ju Hua Cun 菊花村", change bus 5 and get off at "Sheng Ti Yu Guan 省体育馆"(3 stops), then walk backwards for 2-3 minutes.
