This is overpriced and isolated.You have to go everywhere by taxi so it becomes expensive.The room rate is expensive in fact in 3 months in India it was the most expensive i had. I am a life member of the organisation and found the fact that no dorms did not enter into the correct spirit.I had to ask for the room to ask to be cleaned because of the dust. The back of the toilet leaked and the shower head i had to put holes in to get water out. The web site or hotel gave no discount for membership so even if a non member it was same price. I may cease being a member if this is the way hostelling is going. The good side was the manager was very helpful except when i booked a train ticket with them the commission was 30% of the ticket price

They do not fully confirm booking made through the HI website, citing the partial payment as the reason. I would suggest that you book through the YHAI website instead.

Very bad experience, the staff super uncomfortable, my reservation had not been taken into account. Very disappointed, I do not recommend this place!

Youth Hostel Salt Lake provides the best accommodation with attached bath and W.C. european style. They have both A.C. and Non A.C. rooms. They have restaurant at Ground Floor where we cater both Indian and continental dishes. These will meet the standard for International and national Guests. This is situated in a decent class-I tranquil area very suitabl for International Guests. We have pick and drop service through car From Airport & from Railway Station at parties cost. Near by Science City, NICCO Park, Victoria Memorial Hall, Kalibari Dakshnineswar Temple, Belur Math.Kolkata is reminiscent of its past glory during the British rule and stands out as one of the most quintessential cities that has a perfect blend of the modernity and old heritage going hand in hand. The tourist attractions in Kolkata remind us the yesteryears when the British used to rule the nation and Victoria Memorial is the apt instance of it. This is one of the most magnificent tourist attractions in Kolkata that is still having its old charm and grandeur.
Howrah Bridge is another instance that is a perfect instance of extreme engineering that awe-inspires the visitors from the different parts of the world to pay a visit to this lovely city. There is a Kali temple at Kalighat which is also one of the tourist attractions in Kolkata and is visited by a large number of Kali devotees from the different parts of the country.If a legend is to be believed then Kolkata has derived its name from this temple. One will also come across St.Paul's Cathedral, the first Episcopal Cathedral Church to be erected in the eastern world Chowringhee Road. Belurmath about 10 km. from Kolkata is the headquarters of Ramakrishna Math, which houses more than 100 centers in India and abroad
