Dilip ensured our trip to Kathmandu was enjoyable & stress free. He arranged for the delightful Lamar to take us to all the sights & organized a trip to Chitwan which was great! Highly recommended.

I was not ready for the adjustment I'd need to make to adapt to the different environment experienced by all Nepalese in regard to the power blackouts and lack of shower water pressure due to the dry season. On my second stay from Oct. 21-23, I was told I didn't need to filter my water -- there was free mineral water in the jug dispenser on the 2nd floor. I was also shown the HOT WATER showerhead in the dorm room bathroom. I had been using the showerhead (not hot water) in the bathtub. Yet I do see this as an unsanitary place to take a shower (outside a contained area). But I do realize I shouldn't expect much for $6 a night and that it takes money to improve things -- something I don't see happening anytime soon. Just the complaints of an Ugly American who is used to things taken for granted back home. Immensely blessed.

Hostel Overview
Kathmandu Youth Hostel is the main Hostel in Kathmandu operated by Nepal Youth Hostel Council. The Youth Hostel is located just 3 K.M. from the Tribhuwan International Airport. Shared accommodation is in single-sex rooms, private and double rooms are also available. Kathmandu main hostel is a non-smoking property.The Youth Hostel features 7 – 22 hour access, a self-catering kitchen, internet access, mountain bike hire, laundry, luggage room and TV lounge.
All the HI members are provided 10% discount in accommodation. Hostel is situated in the the main area where Banks, Hospitals, Stores are located nearby. City Centre is just 3-4 KM from the Hostel.
Kathmandu Youth Hostel also provide Airport Pick up service at a very nominal price. A 12 hour advance request is required along with flight details and arrival time for airport pick up. The rates for Airport Pick up are $7 USD until 19.00 and $10 USD after 19.00.
