Staffs here are nice, polite and helpful!! The hostel is comfortable! However, the location is a bit inconvenient as there are only few buses going to Hualien.

Overall, I had a good experience staying at Tienhsiang. However, the amount I was asked to pay was $750 TWD(with $32 TWD I paid when I reserved online)not $650 as I told when I reserved online. I was also asked to show my membership. The staff insisted that I had to have a membership in order to stay until I explained that I had double checked online to make sure that a membership was not necessary. Other than these, everything was perfect.

Hostel Overview
The Michelin Guide to Taiwan, also known as the "Taiwan Green Guide", lists 38 towns and regions in Taiwan as three-star highly recommended destinations, the Taroko National Park in Hualien with worldwide well-known gorge scenery was on that list. Tienhsiang is a tableland located in Taroko National Park, which is 485 meters above the sea level , and 45 kilometers from Hualien downtown. Tienhsiang Youth Activity Center was built in 1978, design by the famous architect master Mr. Bao-de Han. The building climbs up to the hill in accordance with its natural shape, it earns the name of “Labyrinth” with its 6-floor delicate construction, and won the best award of Architecture Magazine in 1979.Tienhsiang Youth Activity Center offer the services for social elites and students who travel in Central Cross-Island Highway. We offer the accommodation up to 240 people for lodging, dining and meeting in our center and would be happy to provide some of the rooms for YH guests, accommodation prices fluctuate with the different dates, and the price includes buffet-style breakfast, sheets and clean private bathroom, we also have pool tables and Internet at public area.
Tienhsiang is the biggest scenery area on Central Cross-Island Highway, with the alluring views of XiangDe Temple, Mei Garden, WenShan Hot Spring, Green Water Rail, etc. Therefore, Tienhsiang has been the good stopover to Taroko National Park. Tienhsiang Youth Activity Center will be your best choice when you traveling or hiking on Central Cross-Island Highway.

"Do I need a YH membership card?" - Yes! Card must be shown upon arrival. Membership can be purchased at our center. A non-member will be charged in additional 15% fee on arrival.
"Do you provide bed sheets?" - Yes, they're included in the rate.
"Do you serve breakfast?" - Yes, they're also included. Breakfast time from 7:00 till 8:30 am.
"Until what time do you hold my reservation?" - For ensure the occupancies of our center, we only receive bookings via www.hihostels.com. We keep it till 7 pm, if you don't show up at all, we'll charge your credit card the amount of your first night's stay.
"How early do I need to book?" - The earlier the better. Our busiest months are June, July and August. You can make appointments maximum three months in advance.

| Bus: | Hualien Train Station before the exit there is a bus station. To take a bus from Hualien to Tienhsiang about 2 hours. A person $ 172. Departure time is: 06:30, 08:40, 10:50, 13:50, (10:50 and 13:50 hours will go through Sincheng train station) To the Taroko National Park is: 07:30, 09:40, 11:50, 14:50. Reach Tienhsiang. Walk about 10 minutes. Can reach the hostel. Tienhsiang to Hualien time:0910, 14:00, 16:40, 18:30 |
