Hostel did not answer the phone to confirm my booking and directions. They did not return messages left on voicemail. Absolutely no service and found available accommodation elsewhere.
Cant believe this hostel is part of the hostelling international group. It is dirty (the bathroom hadn't been cleaned in weeks), there were no common areas, no 24 hours reception (in a very rude way they told us that we should be back before 23h), they make us pay 20$ for luggage storage, they didn't provide any information about Hong kong, the location is terrible (there is no way to reach the hostel by public transport) and the reception manager was extremely rude person.
Lots of insects, the hostle is not clean. The staff is very calm but cold in service. The driver seems not happy thus not willing to communicate. The lobby is only 6 square meters big plus a kitchen with only 4 seats. Only 2 power slots are available in a room of 6 people.
Hostel was under renovation, so the stay was quite uncomfortable.
very nice hostel and good hiking, the only downside is the shuttle is the best way there and it leaves on the dot and at certain hours. you could also take the M47 bus to the base of mt. davis path.
Hostel response:
Dear Nicholas, Thank you for your comments! I may add that there is another 50min uphill hike from the bus stop. We suggest Hostellers take our free shuttle bus between Sheung Wan and the hostel if you wish to avoid the hike. Alternatively you may take a taxi from Central which costs approx. $70. Please check our website for more transportation information. Hope to see you again soon!
1.Cleanliness of hostel rooms and premises required. 2.Proper ventilation required. 3.Mosquito's were a menace, kindly look into it. 4.Flowers should be planted in the courtyard to give it a more esthetic look.
Hostel response:
Dear Bupinder, Thank you for your valuable suggestion. We recognize the urgent need to improve the hostel’s cleanliness and we are taking immediate actions to do so day by day. We have recently performed pest control to contain the mosquito problem. As part of the renovation work, we have also planned to carry out improvements to the landscape. Hope to see you again.
washing is big problem
Hostel response:
Dear Tianjing, We’re making improvements to the site and will introduce more facilities e.g. hooks, shelves and benches in the bathrooms. Hopefully you’ll enjoy your stay more next time.
Good place to rest and recoup.
Hostel response:
Thanks Stephen! Indeed the serenity, 270 degree panorama and fresh air of the site is one of our best assets! We’re adding more outdoor furniture and a rooftop bar so there will be more outdoor sitting areas from August. Hope you’ll come back soon to see the changes!
you won't get to the hostel without shuttle or taxi just because is in the top of the mountain but with stunning view. Dorm is not cozy and a little bit cold and kotchen doesn't seem to be clean. but if you wanna spend most of your time outside of the hostel it might be good choice.
Hostel response:
Dear Nina, Sorry to hear that it was cold for you. The renovation improvement works that we’re carrying out now will definitely make the dorms cozier!
Location was poor, only access to leave the hostel was to take a shuttle bus. No internet access or it was working poorly. Heating inside the dormitory was not adequate. No heating in the shower rooms.
Hostel response:
Dear Keith, Thanks for your comments. We’ll be increasing our free shuttle bus frequency starting from August. We have also changed the router and customers have recently expressed gratitude for the fast internet access. We will also introduce heating in the bathrooms. Hope we can show you the improvements on your return!
