The Hostel is indeed very good...the rooms very clean, spacious and well equiped and the staff very friendly and helpfull...simply loved the sauna and swimming pool! It is a little bit expensive...but it was worth the money

Very formal rooms in building A. Hard to feel comfortable there. Kitchenette was not well cleaned. To get the pans and pots in another building isn't the best solution.

Why do I have to fill in a paper by checkin in? You've got all information about me through my onlinebooking and my paying with credit card! If yuo scip that procedure the checkin would go much faster!

It's actually a student village where they've put additional beds into the rooms. It's all pretty new and tidy. Unfortunately, the hostel is a bit off the city centre so walking takes a couple of minutes. Get a 24h pass for the public transport (about 7€) to get around. There is a tram stop just around the corner. For the rest, there is nothing to criticize whatsoever.

We were very glad to live in Hostels Academica. At the same time, we asked beforehand (as participants of IUPAC symposium at Faculty of Chemistry of Helsinki University) one triple room but we received one double room and one place in a triple room, where other women were changed every night.

Only one of the dryers was good. The other two simply need to be replaced. Meals were good.

It was not nice that the prices for the same room change. If we wanted to stay longer, we were told that for the next days we had to pay 79€, wich was more expensive than the night before (72€). Otherwise is everything in the hostel right and comfortable.
Hostel Overview
Hostel Academica, Helsinki is located in the city center! All rooms are with private facilities and with a small kitchenette with refrigerator. Morning sauna and swimming are free of charge! All the rooms have a private toilet, shower and kitchenette with a refrigerator in the room. Kitchen equipment is available. Bed linen and towel are included in the room price. There is a possibility for internet connection in some of the rooms.THE ROOMS have a private toilet, shower and kitchenette with a fridge. Kitchen equipment can be borrowed. Bed linen and towels are included in the room price. There is a possibility for internet connection in the rooms. Part of the rooms were renovated in 2004 and part in 2011.
BREAKFAST is available daily from 7 am -10 am. We also have parking facilities; please contact us if you wish to reserve parking for your car. Safety boxes are available in the reception and we also have a free luggage room. Free internet can be used in our common room. We also have a laundry room.
LOCATION is central; hostel is situated close to the beautiful Hietaniemi beach, Kamppi shopping mall, restaurants and sightseeing attractions. Tram and bus stops are around the corner, while the metro, train and bus stations are only a short walk away.
