I enjoyed my stay immensely. There was a group of 12 of us and we have done this get together annually for several years now. The rustic log building with the crackling fire welcomes you and then ther is Sparrow and her sidekicks Grace and Blossom. What a welcoming committee! Lots of pots & pans & dishes to cook with in a large enough kitchen space that even with many cooks in the kitchen there is still enough room. Seating is efficient and adequate at trestle tables with benches. The shelves of books, games & toys invites one to sit down and relax. Loved it! Thanks and I will return. Maxine Henry

HI Nordegg, Shunda Creek hostel has now reopened and bookings are very welcome. There is now a very low risk of the hostel closing but guests should be aware that there is still a 2 hour evacuation notice in effect due to forest fires in Clearwater County.

Certainly one of Alberta's best-kept secrets, HI-Nordegg, Shunda Creek Hostel is a favourite for hikers, bikers and climbers. Located in the heart of David Thompson Country, this four-season destination provides the perfect setting for individuals, groups, and families seeking exceptional recreation opportunities. Guests can even try ice climbing on the "ice wall" in winter, created by the staff of the hostel.

| Location: | Car Directions: From Edmonton: South on Hwy 2 until the Lacombe turn off Hwy 12 West on Hwy 12 until you come to Hwy 22 South on Hwy 22 until you come to Hwy 11 West on Hwy 11 until you come to Nordegg The hostel is just west of Nordegg, 3 km north of Highway 11 on the Shunda Creek Recreation Area Road. Keep left at the fork in the road.
