PLEASE IGNORE MY PREVIOUS COMMENTS ABOUT THIS HOSTEL!
I got the review mixed up and though I was reviewing another hostel from my trip.
Mosquito Creek is great, fantastic service and well kept hostel.
We had a great stay the whole weekend. The place wasn't that busy and a nice place to relax after a day of skiing. I'd gladly stay there again.
Richard made our stay there very enjoyable - he keeps it extremely tidy and ensures his guest feel fully at home. That included sharing his tea with us!!
website says BBQ. there is no BBQ Two of our three evening meals were BBQ based.
Excellent place to stay for some winter outdoorsy fun. The hostel is clean and the manager is a super friendly guy. This is an excellent location for some backcountry skiing trips.
There could be a room or area in the common room for ski/climbing/outdoors gear. The area in front of the bunks is too small and takes up too much space for 12 people to dry their things. If there were a room you could keep your gear dry and safe this would be ideal!!!!
I stayed one night while exploring the Icefields Highway and national parks in the area. My need was very simply for an indoor bed in the right location and I was only there from late evening until early morning so did not really use the facilities. However, the manager was nice, the bed comfortable and the hostel quiet. I had no security issue but did not see a pack locker which would have increased my rating to good. For a wilderness hostel I was impressed, there was a tap for drinking water and the outhouse was well maintained with hand sanitizer and the kitchen looked well equipped. The location is brilliant. I would happily stay there again.
