The hostel is far from the beaten path and was to be closed for the season in a few days. Some maintenance was being performed to that end. It was ideal for me to take a break; few others were there.

HI-Tibbets Point Lighthouse Hostel is located at the point where Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River meet. After the lighthouse became fully automated in 1976, the Victorian-era lightkeeper's quarters was converted to a hostel. Explore the Lighthouse Museum next door. In the town of Cape Vincent, visit the Historical Museum, Fisheries Station - Aquarium and Breakwater Gallery. Take the ferry from Cape Vincent for a day trip to Wolfe Island and Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Antique Boat Museum in Clayton - 12 miles NE
