I scored the security as fair because I rarely needed the key to the shared dorm I was in, so without a padlock - which I hadn't thought to take - I didn't know which people would be able to access my stuff. I trusted the people in my dorm - even though I didn't know them. I don't know how you would manage the dorm differently - this is a comment not a criticism. I loved my stay.
