I enjoyed my stay. My room overlooked the sea and the gardens. George gave me a lift to the ferry and was very helpful. Breakfast was a bonus and a good start to the day. I would recommend staying here. while out of town , the bus stops just down the road and it is most conveninet.
Amazing place, wonderful old cloister...
Would recommend it!
I booked for 3 nights and stayed on for 7 nights!! Winter and so it was very quiet-- the outdoor terrace/balcony has one of the best views of any hotel/ B/B on Gozo!
A lovely place to stay, you are made really welcome and nothing is too much trouble
I wouldn't recommend staying here unless you had nowhere else to go. The beds were so uncomfortable that no one in our four person company slept well, some of us getting almost no sleep. There was no hot water on the first night and the shower water came out brown. You can't lock the doors from the outside and there is no lockable storage in the rooms. The whole place is run down and really creepy. The breakfast is a bonus but consisted of just jam on toast. I believe you may be able to stay at a hotel for a similar price.
If you do decide to stay here, and want to book a private room (e.g. single, double, twin) don't count on getting it. We booked a double and two singles to find out that there are no double beds in the hostel. They placed us in three separate rooms but we got the impression that if the place wasn't empty except for us then we would have been sharing with other people.
I have to mention this hostel is former monastery. So when i stayed there alone in this huge house all christians signs in the empty house looked very scary heheh. But i made it :)
I would recommend it, hope you not gonna be alone in the house ;)
Our room was enough to fit three people in. Our beds were quite old and didn´t have the newest matrazes on it but we moved two beds together= our king size bed. After exploring the island by foot and buses we still slept like on cloud seven. Bathroom was ok and we got more hot runing water then in an accomodation directly on Malta (Valetta).
The good things: - the kitchen where you can find everything that you need to cook yourself a delicious meal
the best thing was the staff that was working there. Very helpful, real nice and kind people with good hints and tips what you can do on the island gozo and where you can get fresh fish ( bugeja fish market 15 min. walk from the hostel- they have everything, so good so cheap) and everything else.
Our holidays were the best on gozo (we stayed for 9 nights for only 225 euros for two persons including breakfast). we will definitely come again, we had a perfect holiday on gozo!!
Lovely hostel in a quiet location with great sea views an veiws of Malta..
A REALLY WONDERFUL AND 'SPECIAL' PLACE

| Bus: | On reaching Gozo, you either board Bus 25 and exit after the 2nd stop or otherwise walk uphill for approx. 10 mins. The nearest Bus Stop is only 50 m outside the gate. We are on the ferry route, so bus traffic is regular. (If guests priorly inform us about their time of arrival, our staff can manage a free pickup from both harbour and heliport). |
| Metro: | na |
| Parking: | Who might come along with private or hired car, would find ample space where to park, free of charge. The hostel has enough parking area for 15-20 cars. Safety is guaranteed. |
| Sea port: | Imgarr harbour (the port on reaching Gozo) is situated on the southeast end of the island and Ghajnsielem village (where St. Joseph Home Hostel is) is the first locality reached on the left going up the road. |
| Location: | St. Joseph Home Hostel is just behind the round traffic island on top of the road, after the first and only turn to the left. Just within a few minutes' reach from the ferry, St. Joseph Home Hostel is located on the main road leading to Victoria. |
| Rail: | na |
| Airport: | On arriving at Luqa International Airport, you either take a bus to Valletta, the capital or else a taxi would bring you directly to the port for Gozo. Bus 45 from Valletta would then bring you to Cirkewwa where you take a ferryboat for 30 mins. to Gozo. (If you arrive by sea, same applies how to travel from the sea terminal to your destination). |
