The hostel was great and it had a spectacular view. Just bear in mind that it is way, way, way up on top of the city -- although it is on the bus line, we had a lot of luggage and a tight schedule and the cost of taxis to get to the train station added a lot to the cost. We might have gotten a hotel near the station and saved overall, certainly in time.
I would stay there again.
This was a very clean and comfortable hostel, with good bathroom facilities and spacious dorms. Despite its location away from the centre of Genova, it was easily accessible by bus. Negative aspects included the lack of kitchen (self-catering is important to backpackers!) and the quality of the breakfast (packaged, highly-processed "brioche" and "toast"). The atmosphere was a little lacking, but I would probably stay here again if visiting Genova in the future.
top of a huge hill more than an hours walk from town! take the bus!
a HUGE problem was the fact its used by youth groups... 13 year old children runing around in the rooms at night! felt like a kids boarding school crossed with a hospital
The staff are excellent, really know the area, and are really helpful...
Little out of the way. The staff was super knowledgeable.
The city was experiencing very low temperatures, so unfortunately my room was not sufficiently heated. However, the staff were lovely and the view fantastic. Being out of the centre was a bit inconvenient though.
The hostel is the best to stay for budget travelers. Though it is not situated at the city center, the bus goes frequently and till midnight to the hostel, so it is not a big problem for the location. The staffs are very nice and helpful.
The location is bad for those who want a night life. Otherwise, the bus ride up is pretty straightforward, and you do get a darn good view of the whole port. I don't suggest buying the hostel breakfast though - just grab something once you're down the mountain. This is a typical factory hostel: gets you in and out. But the staff were all really polite.
Breakfast was disappointing especially having to pay for it. The location is great for the views and easy to get to although the directions were not very good but the locals were extremely helpful and friendly.
