They lost my reservation done with HI and demanded a new reservation direct with them. Thus my reservation money was lost. For the "new" reservation, they required advance payment for the full amount, did not demand our HI cards and did not apply the rates advertised in the HI site. The hostel itself is nice but very overused. It is noisy and everything in the hostel is slowly falling to pieces because so many people use it. It belongs to a big tour company that brings in lots of big groups in guided tours and it is always full to the brim. The staff is poorly trained and defiantly unhelpful. All they want is to sell tours from their company, the rest is basically a nuisance.
This hostel was a big letdown and I do not understand how it is accepted in the HI network, it does not fit with the standards or the spirit of HI.
Staff was not friendly at checkin and not interested in giving advice; You did not feel welcome. on Sunday there was no bread available for breakfast even though we were not exceptionally early to breakfast and no alternative was offered.
HI Hostel that does not provide breakfast and the hostel is a insanely busy with little organization
felt being taking advantage of. this hostel theoretically co-existis with a restaurant/bar. but it just makes you feel like you`re sleeping on the back room of a pub.
they couldn`t care less for the common kitchen: broken pans, stoves without gas, no tools, no dry towels. (at a moment I went to ask in reception for a dry towel, the guy went in and out of the restaurant kitchen and said "no" - there is not a single dry towel?! - "no, they are cleaning the kitchen now. not now". feels like they do this to make it "easier" for you to order your food with them.
to solve the towel matter I took the bath towel from the previous guest of the room, that was left behind. towel that you`ll have to pay extra $20 to rent.
talking about extras, breakfast: a cup of weak coffee, concentrated cup of juice, toasts and butter for an other $20/day.
internet wifi: it doesn`t reach the rooms, so you have to use it at the pub area, so you have to minimaly dress up, after all, it`s a restaurant.
There are computers but they cannot be used by hostellers.
