Hostel Overview
This hostel in Dali is one of the HI network of hostels in China, located next to the Er Hai Lake Port with lake views. The hostel provides comfortable accommodation in its unique century-old farmhouse and boat. Staying in this hostel guests will enjoy a traditional, cultural experience. Away from the city noise this hostel is ideal for guests wanted to relax and enjoy the countryside. When staying at this hostel guests should take a ride around the lake and explore the surrounding areas. The hostel is near Xizhou, which is the Millennium Old Town. A perfect mid-point and rest stop for guests travelling China.The Legend of 1000 years of paradise is not a lie. Near Old Dali Town in Yunnan, there is a place called "Taoyuan" and this translates as paradise. The Guesthouse is located on the Dali to Lijiang main route, near to the world famous Butterfly Spring and Xizhou old town at the Taoyuan ferry port, with Cangshan mountains and Er Hai Lake very close by.
The Lakeview Youth Hostel has been converted from a traditional Bai fishermans House and reflects the old stlye of the peoples culture and way of life. You may feel that you have stepped into a miniture museum with old fishing boats, pottery, carved wooden doors and windows, green surroundings, stone and wood all in poetic harmony. If you like the simple life here you can see the Taoyuan way of life with period labor and production tools, furniture and artifacts. This valuable collections has been arbitrarly placed around the lounge and courtyard dining area where you can eat delicious traditional Bai cuisine or drink tea and take in the lovely atmosphere at your own leisure.
For example you can look upon the stunning Cangshan Mountain range or Er Hai Lake and gaze at the clear sky where the stars shine brightly and the only noise is the wind in the trees. The Taoyuan people invite you to experience the simple and plain life which is fast dissappearing in this modern age. | Bus: | From Xiaguan: When you arrive at the Express Bus Terminal, take bus No.8 to the North bus Station, where you can get a bus direct to Taoyuan ferry port (8 Yuan). From Old Dali: You can take a minibus from the west gate to the Butterfly Spring (6 Yuan) and then turn right and walk towards Er Hai Lake for about 300metres. The Hostel is very close to the Taoyuan ferry port, Or if you want to ride a bicycle it is about 24kms to Taoyuan ferry port and you will see some beautiful scenery. From Lijiang: Take the Experess Bus from Lijiang to Old Dali and ask the drivers stop at the Taoyuan ferry port. When the bus stops turn left and walk 100metres towards Er Hai Lake. |
