very clean,with an eye for the environment and great, friendly staff always ready for help, trip advice and a good laugh all together. the only flaw is that there's no guest kitchen, but this hostel just a 20-min bus ride from salerno and gorgeous costiera amalfitana is definitely worth trying.
Hostel Overview
Surrounded by mountains and close to the sea (Vietri is only 3 km away), Cava dei Tirreni is in the middle of green and big valley. The history of the city is related with the Benedectine Abbey founded in XI century. In the Renaissance the city became very rich and powerful thanks to its trade, the ability of the artisans and the weaving mill. Cava dei Tirreni -also called 'The green door of the Amalfi Coast'- preserves many historic tracks like the pictoresque Borgo Scacciaventi, built to protect the city from the northwind. There are a lot of hiking possibilities on the Lattari mountains through breathtaking views. The Hostel is located in an ancient convent of the XVI century: Saint Mary of the Shelter. Every last week-end of June there is a Medieval tournement.An ancient convent become a quiet and tidy Hostel. Only few steps from Amalfi coast and his Moresque fascination, not far from ancient Pompeii and from Magna Graecia Doric temples in Paestum.
A good place to enjoy Mediterranean beauties.
