1. Hong Kong Railway Museum : www.heritagemuseum.gov.hk/eng/museums/railway.aspx (Free of charge, 15-minute walk from Tai Po Market MTR Station) Opens 9am – 5pm except Tuesdays, Christmas day, Boxing day, New Year's day and the first three days of Chinese New Year. There are also some Hong Kong traditional buildings and streets near the Museum which worth a visit.

This hostel is located on the water in lovely peaceful surroundings, so if hiking, nature and cycling is your thing then this hostel is for you. Note that it is a 30-45mins bus ride away from any supermarkets, shops or MTR and the bus costs $6 each way. There are only a few restaurants near the hostel which are pricey but nice. Also, make sure you find out when cleaning day is as they might kick you out of the hostel between 10am-4pm for this and the manager might also need to leave and lock the premises during this time. So best to ask if you are planning a lazy day.

We would like to clarify that the hostel closing time (10 am to 4 pm) is for reception handover and daily cleaning purposes so all hostellers are requested to stay out of the hostel but their personal belongings can be kept in the dormitory or bedroom. So hostellers are suggested to take the hostel closing time into consideration when planning their trip
Here you are some updated public transport information: Bus # 75K ($5.2) and green minibus # 20C ($6.6) run between Tai Po Market MTR Station and Tai Mei Tuk. -

Very glad we came, staff were very helpful and even gave us a room to ourselves as it was quiet. Building was in the same shocking state all HKYHA properties seem to be in, but it didn't spoil a very nice two days we had there relaxing, going for walks and cooking.

We came in the middle of the night (3 a.m.), we sent them an email that we would come in at night. But when we arrived, the gate was LOCKED! wtf man! So we had to sleep on outside on the street, until they open a 7 a.m. ! So do not pick this hostel if you come in late or to early. The Gate is only open from 7am to 10-11 am. and then again 4 pm. to 11 pm. !! And this is a members hostel, so you have to be a member to get the price that it says on this website! we didn't know, so we had to bay extra to stay the nights we stayed. Do not go here just because it is cheap. if you want to get away from the city, it's good for 2-3 day, but not more!

Sorry that there was miscommunications. The hostel is closed in day time because we need to carry out housekeeping works. Moreover, according to our hostel licence we can only provide service to members. And if you become an YHA member, you can enjoy membership rate to stay in any YHA hostel around the world and numerous benefits and offers exclusively for YHA members. -

Thank you, Cleve. Next time, if you plan a trip in Guangdong Province of China, you can take MTR from Tai Po Market Station to Lo Wu or Lok Ma Chau and cross the border to China. -

All other things are very good except the building itself...its pretty old and since near a lake and thick forest ..mosquitos are on higher side. Rooms size is bit tiny..good for singles but difficult for families. The warden is a nice person and very active and helpful...may GOD bless him ! Its far away from main city but in the website if the train map (route) and bus connectivity (75K & 20C) is given it will help hostelers to reach the place quickly.

I loved the friendly and very comfortable services provided by Bradbury Jockey Club. It will be an understatement if I say I got the right value for my money, as the experience of my stay in Hong Kong was made much more meaningful with so little time to see in a bustling and busy city of Hong Kong.

The hostel is too old. It needs renovation. The hall needs to install air-conditioner.

Adjacent to Plover Cove Reservoir, Bradbury Jockey Club Youth Hostel is the hub of water sports and recreation. Whether taking windsurfing and canoeing courses at the Water Sports Centre nearby, rowing in Plover Cove, fishing along the waterfront, cycling or kite-flying around Plover Cove Reservoir main dam which is a few minutes’ walk from the hostel, the choice is yours.A massive public barbeque site is next to the hostel, or you can cook your own meals at our self-catering kitchen. Dormitories, twin-bedded, 4 bedded and 8 bedded rooms, and group accommodation are available. The hostel features free Wi-Fi access, lockers (lock exclusive), TV room, and a multi-purpose room.
