C'est la meilleur auberge de jeunesse que nous ayons testé en Islande ! Un acceuil très sympatique, une chambre et des parties communes pratiques et très clean ! N'hésitez pas ! It's the best HI we was tested in iceland !

The host, Olaf, was very nice and welcoming. Felt like we were staying on a farm rather than a hostel. Highly recommended. But very isolated.

Although we used it as our sleepover for a lo g drive we enjoyed the beautiful location and view on the bay. It's a nice cosy hostel.

Hostel Overview
Berunes is a farm, ideally situated at an amazing seafront under eastern mountains. The Hostel is a charming farmhouse, built at the beginning of last century and yet offers needed facilities and small double and family rooms. There are also 3 self-catering cottages, each of them can take up to 6 people and then more 5 single/double/family rooms all with shared facilities in a newer building. The Hostel is well located for those who are travelling between north and south; between Skaftafell National Park and the Myvatn area. You find a small international library, books selected and given by our guests through the past 30 years that this has been a hostel. You can get the renown Pancake Breakfast and simple meals typical of Icelandic cuisine in Gestastofan; a home resturant next to the Hostel. The East Fjord mountains, valleys and coastline are excellent for hiking. There is a path leading up between the peaks above the Hostel and down into a valley. Next Hostels: Höfn, 140 km - Seyðisfjörður, 105 km.Here you can enjoy peace and Icelandic farm live in a magnificent environment.

| Location: | Directions: Berunes is 300 m from Road nr. 1. The drive from Djúpivogur (the village at the other side of the long fjord Berufjordur), takes around 40 minutes. If you are driving from Egilsstaðir you have at least these 3 ways to reach Berunes; 1. Road 96 along the coast. 118 km. 2. Road nr. 1 down Breiðdalur. 105 km. 3. A rough mountainroad nr 939 called “Öxi”. 82 km. |
