Fees galore. No towel? Fee. No wifi? Fee please. No hot pot or mug for tea? Water fountain was not working.front door is a joke for security. Press and get buzzed in and easily walk around no questions asked.

    Hostel response:
Thank you for taking the time to rate us. There is a hot water machine in the restaurant that is always working and available. The water fountains in the corridors are going to be removed, but all the taps give drinking water and you can ask in reception to have your water bottle filled from the kitchen. Asking for help always helps! We try to keep bed prices to a minimum by leaving extras like wifi as an option for guests to purchase only if they need it. There is a camera outside the door which allows us in reception to see everyone who buzzes the door. Thank you again for sharing your opinion. YHA St. Paul's Duty Manager

The location is great and generally the hostel is clean, the shower is hot. Breakfast can be bought additionally and there are options for vegetarians as well. A minus are probably the beds, this sandwich type of construction is really strange. If you are on the highest bed be prepared - you will step down and have the feeling of almost stepping into the face of some other guest :(

    Hostel response:
Thank you for your positive feedback. We are happy to know you had a nice stay in our hostel. The design of the beds is a bit old fashioned, it makes the most of the space tough! Best regards, YHA St. Paul's Duty Manager

Good tube access, 3 blocks from Black Friars and St. Pauls. I enjoyed that the bells at the cathedral announce the time time every hour like a grandfather clock. I stayed in a dorm room with 7 beds and 1 electrical outlet. The beds were triple bunk style so 4 out of 7 had to climb in and out. I charged my phone daily in the common area as could never access the outlet in my room. One person was smart an brought along a power bar so she could charge her phone and watch a movie on her iPad. Showers and toilets accessed through hallways. I would stay here again.

Nice staff........helpful, friendly......... Excellent location++!! The bunk beds have an awkward set up, being 3 rather than just the 2 beds. Therefore, it was a bit strange to have someone needing to be on your bed to get up............but even that was O.K. Just great !!! Thanks. connie

    Hostel response:
We appreciate you taking the time to share your opinion and it is rewarding to know you found our facilities and service up to your expectations. The triple bunks make the most of the space but we are aware the design can be a bit awkward, although surprisingly comfortable to sleep in! We hope to see you again soon. Although we had help bring up our luggage I think a dumb waiter would be good to bring up the luggage. It would help the more elderly people and the staff wouldn't have to do it. Also when minors are staying the staff should patrol the halls to keep the noise at a minimum after 11pm. The kids next to our room were having a good time till 3 in the morning the night before we left. All in all a great week staying with you.

    Hostel response:
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, it is very valuable to us. Hiring an extra member of staff just to carry the luggage would increase the price of the beds, which would defeat our purpose of offering cheap accommodation. Also, in reception we are happy to help whoever needs a hand with their luggage! Our night staff do patrol the hostel at night, but it's always useful to report any problems at the time they happen so we can spot the source and fix the problem there and then. Thank you again for your comments. YHA St. Paul's Duty Manager
