Hostel well situated. The rooms are OK but nothing special. The heating wasn't workng and they gave us an electrical one.

Front desk greeters were very helpful. We received a wonderful sandwich, juice & yogurt package prepared for us, since we would be leaving the next morning before breakfast time. We thoroughly enjoyed that on our train ride to Oslo

Short office hour for check in / check out; short breakfast time and need to check out before 10. the dungeon feels gloomy and there's no common space to socialize

The staff was exceptionally friendly. They even made a couple of sandwiches because we had to leave before the breakfast already. Thanks for that! There is WiFi in almost all the rooms. The hostel was a little bit cold though I have to admit.

My stay in the hostel was simply amazing. Helpful and generous staff, nice travelers, clean rooms, large kitchen, good security. Breakfasts are fresh, tasty and handy. Convenient location in the city centre, located right beneath the Aksla viewpoint, close to main bus station and ferries. Greatly recommended.

Staff is really kind and they really care your stay in Alesund. When I booked they reply promptly to all my questions and gave me advice about busses and details. When we were there they gave us good suggestions for activities. The breakfast was really good and huge! A four star Hostel

Hostel Overview
Welcome to Ålesund hostel! This hostel is one of the HI network of hostels in the Fjords region of Norway. Located in the heart of the city centre, Ålesund hostel is within close vicinity of some of Norway’s most celebrated tourist attractions. Ålesund was rebuilt after the great town fire in 1904. Today the city is one of 3 European cities that feature magnificent Jugend art nouveau architecture.We are a small hostel & we offer different service in the low & peak season.
In the low season (between September-May) we have shorter opening hours of the reception & some of the our commons rooms are not available.
The hostel offers 2-, 4-, 5- and 6 bedded rooms with private shower and toilette. However the bigger rooms 4-, 5,- and 6 bedded rooms, they can be used as single, double or 3 bedded rooms.
We offer also a simple & budget accommodation in big dorms (12 bedded & 16 bedded).
The breakfast is included in the overnight price all over the year and we serve lunch, dinner for groups.
Please contact us for inquiries about meetings and conferences at our hostel. Ålesund Vandrerhjem has 2 rooms, which has the capacity of meetings for 100 and 40 people respectively.

| Bus: | There are several daily departures to/ from Ålesund from the largest cities in Norway. From bus terminal sie 10 min walking distance, please follow the streets: Strorgata & Parkgata nr 14. The popular TIMEkspressen brings you between Volda and Kristiansund in comfort and easy access. Norway Bussekspress take you to/ from Molde, Bergen and Oslo. For transportation to Trondheim, Molde and other local routs, please check out Nettbuss Ålesund. |
| Parking: | Ålesund Vandrerhjem does not have their own parking space, but it is possible to park close by about 50 - 100 meters distance from the hostel. |
| Sea port: | Hurtigruten calls daily on Ålesund by a southern- and northern route. From terminal is 15 min walking distance, please follow the streets: Kongensgate, Løvenvoldgata & Parkgata nr 14. For more information, please check out www.hurtigruten.no. There are also other boats that are calling Ålesund. These boats go to for instance; Hareid, Valderøy, Langevåg and Nordøyane. In the summertime additional boat routes are operation. For more information, please check out www.fjord1.no. |
| Location: | All roads lead to Ålesund, and the trip itself can be a beautiful and adventurous journey. If you travel from Oslo, the shortest route will be to follow E6 to Dombås, and then change to E136 that will take you through Ørskog and Skodje on your way to Ålesund. If you are travelling from Trondheim you can take the E39 route south, and maybe take at detour to the Atlantic Ocean road between Kristiansund and Molde. From Bergen there are several exciting routes to follow, and the E39 route will take you along the coastline. Follow E136 or RV658 to the centre of Ålesund. The hostel is located on the street "Parkgaten", which runs parallel to the street "Keiser Wilhelmsgate". |
| Rail: | The closest train station to Ålesund is Åndalsnes, which is located about 120 km from Ålesund. There are daily departures to Åndalsnes from Ålesund. |
| Airport: | The airport in Ålesund is Ålesund Airport Vigra, located about 15 km from the centre. For transportation to/ from the airport, please check out Flybussen. SAS, Norwegian and Air Baltic operate on the airport. |
