17 Dec 2009 Marissa, USA:
Tokyou was recommended by the staff. Located in china town. Not a far walk. Prices were resonable and the food portions were big and the price was not bad. |

17 Dec 2009 Marissa, USA:
Try a soccer (futbol) game. Very exciting. The people in Liverpool are so different at a game than in the States. They are very respectful and are there to enjoy the game. It was a fun experience. |

If you are a fan of the Beatles there is of course the Beatles museum in Albert Dock... that itself is a fine place to go, with bars, some small shops and access to the DuckTours tour... of course keeping the Beatles theme, it is called the Yellow DuckMarine. In addition to this, there is a ghost tour type thing there. Go to the tourist information office/store by the Duckmarine and you will see it right there. Keeping the Beatles theme, in Mathew Street there is the Cavern Pub which is very close to the Beatle's history, although if you do not mind being in an underground bar (hence the name) it is also a pleasant enough place just to have a few drinks before going back out into the daylight.... or across the road to one of the many other bars in the area. A trip to Liverpool, if it is your only time there, is not complete without (again the Beatles come back into play) a trip on the Ferry Cross The Mersey. I did that once, just across and back, in a storm, but it is definitely something that must be done. Try not to sing all the way there and back :-P |

17 Sep 2009 Joanne, England & Wales:
The lobster pot is a great fish and chip shop, happily since my last trip to Liverpool, they have opened another branch in town which includes an area upstairs to go and eat. |

17 Sep 2009 Joanne, England & Wales:
There is a lot there, go to Mathew Street and you can try a different bar every night. The only place I would not recommend is Flares... when I was there before there was half an inch of water or something in the restrooms and that was before you even got to the cubicles.. the rest of the place was just as sticky and dirty... if that does not bother you too much, at least the music was OK. |

There is a good network from Liverpool... not far from Manchester, Preston (a good hub for the Lake District and for Blackpool, if you have time and do not want to rush too much... good for eating out, but not much more to say about Preston!)... if you are heading South the train to London takes about 2½ hours. If you book online direct from Virgin trains and you book far enough ahead you can get tickets from £12 single, although these tickets are non flexible. You can also get bus fares from £7 single from National Express. This includes night buses. The bus station is a fair way from the hostel, although not far from Lime Street station... the taxi companies however are in my experience very friendly and inexpensive. :-) |
