If taking the tube more than once a day, buy a day pass. The double decker bus tour is great, and the yellow line has live commentary that is much funnier and more informative than the recorded tour. Take a snack and your camera, and perhaps a jacket. The Tate Museum of Modern Art was one of my favorite spots. All the museums have really good audio guides available for <4 pounds sterling. |

The national gallery is free to everyone all the time. I am delighted to see most of the impressionists' painting there. Instead of taking eurostar to go fron London to the continent, you may consider using ferry and train. I went from London to Amsterdan paying 74 pounds including a overnight cabin in the ferry (like a hotel) and all train travel involved.
