Nice cafe/bar next door. Ice cream and pizza get cheaper the further away from St Marks or Rialto you go. |

Head away from the well-known tourist spots and down the backstreets and just keep walking... if you like quirky organic architecture and love serendipity you will not be disappointed. Take a good streetmap. |

Buy your own food from your last stop, for example Florence or Milan. Food is extremely expensive in and near Venice, even in the supermarket. For your reference, the McDonald big mac menu is around 10 euros. |

The restaurant next to the hostel was very good and economical. We enjoyed sitting by the waterway with a glass of wine and watching all the boats and ships go by. |

We had excellent fish at Taverna Da Baffo in Campo Sant' Agostin (San Polo). The staff were very hospitable and generous. The restaurant was conveniently located in the middle of our foot tour between Rialto and San Marco. |
