HI Hostel Ullapool SYHAOur seafront hostel, overlooking Loch Broom, is equipped with great facilities, a warm welcome and is located close to the ferries, buses, pubs, cafes and restaurants. The hostel is spectacularly situated and the town has something to offer everyone. From extreme sports to nature walks, museums and music, Ullapool has it all. An excellent base for hillwalking, the start of routes for 25 Munros can be reached within 30 minutes by car. These include the Deargs, the Fannichs, Ben More Assynt, An Teallach and the Fisherfield six. To the north is the magical landscape of Coigach and Assynt. Isolated rocky peaks (inselbergs) of Torridon sandstone dominate a crumpled carpet of Lewisian gneiss sprinkled with sparkling lochans. Unique and mesmerising, peaks such as Stac Pollaidh and Suilven are amongst the finest in Scotland, whether you climb them or simply enjoy the view. The whole of the North West coast can be easily explored from this small fishing village. Ferries leave daily for Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis whilst cruises visit the Summer Isles (see Achininver Hostel). Sandy beaches, sea lochs, islands and mountains, superb hillwalking, wildlife watching, landscape, a vibrant highland community and music scene combine to make a truly memorable and varied holiday destination. Facilities include internet access, laundry and kitchen. Private rooms available. Pre-booked continental breakfast available between 8am and 9am for £4.50. | more...... |
