Travel Tips for HI Hostels in Turkey

Don't miss... Antalya - Dedekonak Pension, Yvonne, New Zealand:
Antalya Museum - fantastic selection of statues of gods and godesses, and ornate sarcophogi. Easy access via tram. The ruins of the Kesik Minare (Truncated Minaret) are right behind the hostel - has been a Roman temple, Byzantine Church and a mosque. Wandering around the narrow streets of Kaleici with its Ottoman houses in various states of repair - we came across the 400 year old house in which Ataturk's wife was born (as told by the jeweller who had the 103 year old house/shop next door).
For good eats check out... Istanbul - Cordial House, Joe, Australia:
Turkısh breakfast ıs good and healthy. Egg fruıts great bread and cheeses. Well worth ıncludıng ın the bookıng.
For good eats check out... Istanbul - Sultan Hostel, Aki, Canada:
Fish restaurants/fish sellers on the bridge between Eminonu and Beyoglu.
Don't miss... Istanbul - The Orient Hostel, Olga, Australia:
Aya Sofia, Blue Mosque, Grand Bazzar, walk down the major street(in both directions) alongside the 'tram line'. Walking down the hill, you reach the harbour (EMINONU-the old historical part of city), and find bargains on boat cruises. Eg. instead of paying 60+ euros for a 2 hour boat cruise on Bosphorus, you only pay 12 Turkish lira!! (people walk outside the ticket machines offering such trips). Also, if you buy a token for 1.75 Turkish Lira, you hop on a boat and can travel in any direction over the Bosphorus to other parts of Istanbul. Beware which boat you take,as you can't use tokens from 1 company line on another's boats. Also, some lines finish up early(around 8pm). You can always walk over the Galata bridge to get back to Eminonu. Never leave your accomodation without a map. People are usually friendly, and most speak some English-especially shop/stall keepers.
For good eats check out... Pamukkale - Artemis Yoruk Hostel, Minoru, Japan:
I had dinner every evening at the same Japanese restaurant. It's a little bit expensive, but authentic Japanese food.
