Go to the tourism office and get on a tour to see the Loire Valley castles (if you're into that stuff). We used Acco-Dispo tours, which saw 4 castles in 1 day, but there are other options and companies to choose from. None of the maps tell you so, but Place de Plumereau is the old town square on all of the postcards |

26 May 2011 Kavita, USA:
Rue Colbert is full of great restaurants, most of which have very reasonable prix-fixé menus from €15-25. Definitely check out Scarlett's Tea Salon; not the cheapest, but they have a wonderful selection of teas and the hot chocolate is fantastic. For the most part, though, we bought cheese at the supermarket and bread at the bakery, and ate that. |

26 May 2011 Kavita, USA:
The châteaux are brilliant and in some cases, the best way to see them is by arranging one of the tours through the Office du Tourisme near the train station. I particularly recommend the all-day tour to Azay-le-Rideau, Villandry, Ussé, and Langeais for €21 (plus reduced entry to the châteaux themselves). Blois, Amboise, and Chenonceau are easy to reach on the train and completely worthwhile. Also, the Loire Valley is just wonderful for wine, especially whites. |
