HI Hostel Stockholm - HågelbyThe 100-year old Hågelby Park lies 30km from the centre of Stockholm, at the heart of one of Sweden’s most beautiful public parks in the heart of Botkyrka in rolling countryside, on the banks of Lake Aspen. You can stay here in a hostel in the beautiful Stenvillan. Hågelby Park is the only public park to have received the award “Park of the Year” on two occasions. It has played an important cultural role in Swedish society and continues to do so. Hågelby Estate was built at the beginning of the 1900s by L M Eriksson. The main estate building houses Hågelbyhus restaurant and several conference rooms. In the beautiful baroque-inspired gardens, there are walking trails, large lawns, a children’s park, a dance floor under a large marquee, cafés, a lottery stand, a 4H farm, an amphitheatre, stables, craft stalls, and more. Last year the park had around 150 000 visitors. Hågelby Park is filled with fun and fantasy. Dance under the canvas ceiling on the dance floor, listen to concerts, go to the theatre, attend exhibitions, bring the family to celebrate midsummer or Sweden’s National Day and attend the lighted Christmas market when the days begin to darken. You will also find Café Anna Giertz in the park, who serves organic homemade food such as pastries, sandwiches, salads and other nice meals.
