Not many choices. We dined twice at Joars Kjokken (average price, good food, oddly enough no Norwegian beer!)

Nigardsbreen, Laerdal, Borgund, Kaupanger...
Don't miss... 01 Aug 2011 Larry, USA:
Old churches in the area and also the glacier up north. Just the scenery is enough to make you want to go back again.

Make a trip to the glaciers and if you've got a car, definitely take the tourist route 55.

Budget meals are at the gas station. I was disappointed in restaurants as I was looking forward to eating some norwegian meals. I had hot dogs, pizza, lasagna. These were the places that I was suggested to go to get a meal.
Don't miss... 13 Aug 2010 Alberto, Italy:
The hostel is very close and bus connected to the Urnes stavkirke, the oldest wooden church in Norway. Although there are bus connections, you will have to take your time if you're not travelling by car because the connections are not many.
13 Aug 2010 Alberto, Italy:
Sogndal it's a nice position for visiting the Sognefjord. anyway I suggest the boat trip from the close Kaupanger to Gudvangen to experience the best fjord trip ever.
Don't miss... 11 Aug 2010 Larry, USA:
Urnes Stave Church, Glacier, tour of the fjords
11 Aug 2010 Larry, USA:
If staying in Oslo choose a hotel that is in Oslo proper and not at the airport. They may be a little more expensive but the cost of going from the hotel by the airport into the city was quite expensive and there is nothing to do out in that area. I spent more time on buses going from my hotel into Oslo than anything. The tour of the Royal Palace was great along with the changing of the guard
For great nightlife try... 06 Aug 2010 Makoto, Sweden:
Just be relaxed and enjoy the calm nature surrounding you.

HI Hostel Sogndal

Sogndal Hostel is located at the center of the small town Sogndal, in view of the Sognefjord, the longest and deepest fjord in Europe. From the hostel you can do daily trips to the UNESCO World Heritage sites of the Nærøyfjord and Urnes stave church. There are also possibilities for guided glacier hikes on the Nigardsglacier. Local attractions include the Sogn Folkmuseum, one of the largest outdoor museums in Norway, the Glaciermuseum in Fjærland and the Glaciersenter in Jostedalen. In Sogndal you can also buy guided trips with kayak on the fjord, or on one of the nearby glacial lakes. There are many hiking oppurtunities in and around Sogndal. But if you are interested in the more spectacular hikes, we would recommend a trip to Jotunheimen, a big mountain area northeast of Sogndal which has the highest mountains in Norway. | more......
