For good eats check out... 08 Sep 2009 Brunno, Brazil:
There's a supermarket in front of the hostel that can be a good option for those who want to save some money and make their own food in the kitchen. Don't leave Salvador without trying the famous Bahia's traditional food Acarajé. You can find many around the city, but the best one I tried was also in Rio Vermelho neighborhood.
For great nightlife try... 08 Sep 2009 Brunno, Brazil:
Night life entertainment can be found in the close neighborhood called Rio Vermelho. You can find many bars, restaurants, friendly atmosphere on the streets, samba presentations! Don't miss the samba in Pelourinho during the weekends and the famous group Olodum on Sundays and Tuesdays.
Don't miss... 08 Sep 2009 Brunno, Brazil:
I'd suggest a walk from Farol da Barra (near the hostel) to Pelourinho... it's like a 1-hour walk, but very nice to know the surroundings better. On the way, you will see the real Salvador, its people and way of life!
08 Sep 2009 Brunno, Brazil:
Take the ferry to Morro de Sao Paulo, an island in Bahia, a place to relax! Spend three nights there and enjoy the paradise in Bahia. Such beeeeautiful beaches!
For good eats check out... 10 May 2009 Leanna, USA:
There is a churrascaria sem peso a block back from the beach on (rua? av?) A.Celso. For R$ 9.99. This means they don´t weigh your plate and charge by the kilo. They had several vegetarian choices. They seem to be a lunch place, closing at 17:00 on Sunday.
Don't miss... 10 May 2009 Leanna, USA:
Shopping at MAUA at the bottom of the hill on Sete Setembro in Barra. Beautiful crafts by local artesans at very reasonable prices.
10 May 2009 Leanna, USA:
Praia do Forte on Littoral Norte. HI hostel can be book from hostel desk in Salvador.
For great nightlife try... 26 Oct 2008 Steve, Australia:
Take a bus to Peliurionoh from Barra rather than staying there. Much safer and easy to travel around.
