Hard to find restaurants in Pingyao where ANY English is spoken or on the menu. Good luck! I wound up relying on some street sellers with woks where I could point to what I wanted. Also I could see that it was freshly and thoroughly cooked - the key to staying well when eating abroad.

The hostel's lounge was okay with wi-fi, good and inexpensive local beer, pretty good place to meet fellow travelers.

Walking along the top of the city wall. Not many people do this and I'm glad I did it. Great sites of the wall and of the village below. Be warned, however, that there are only a couple of places where you can go up and down the wall, e.g. the North & South Gate. So plan to go halfway around the town (an hour's walk) or go up, around a little, and back down where you went up.
