If you like cemeteries or are a fan of The Doors, you must go. It's walking distance from the hostel and it's amazing. For me it's a must every time I go to Paris.

Pain au chocolate early morning in Metro food stations: warm, fast, and easy goodness. Cafe La Buci on La Rue Buci, nice mix of locals and tourists, friendly staff, quiche aux saumon was excellent, had football on (no sound) in corner.

Great street with different little restaurants and bars. Meet lots of new parisien friends there. One of the best night me and my girlfriend had while travelling in Europe.
Don't miss... 13 Mar 2011 Angela, USA:
Eiffeel Toweer and Versailles. Versailles is worth the metro ride!

There's some cheap take away restaurants just around the corner where the food is pretty awesome (particularly the Indian food place). I highly recommend it on a cold winter night.

This being my second time in Paris, I have come to believe that all of inner Paris is a tourist trap. All the brasseries and cafes are alike and offer the same fares and prices. Generally meals are between 10 and 20 euros with a median of 13 or 14. You best bets are the middle eastern kabob places and the grocery stores. Groceries seemed cheap to me compared to the USA.

There is a Lidl directly opposite which was handy for buying budget sundries. If you take a right when you leave the hostel (the opposite way from the Metro station) and follow the canal you will find a few nice bars and restaurants which are reasonably priced.
